Tudor Sub 79090 for >$12,000!

Happy New Year all. I generally stay away from pricing and "hype" threads, but this raised my eyebrows. No affiliation with the seller. Submariners are top notch, and I have a special place in my heart for Tudor Subs, but is this what it has come to? A Tudor Sub from the 1990's for >$12k? Crazy!

Yeah, I had these watches new when they were £900 and that was plenty enough. Not sure why anyone would want to pay more for one now than they would for a Rolex Sub. Nostalgia? That would be it I guess. They were a cheap alternative and nothing more back in the 90's...a nearly Rolex. Quality was so so. Bracelets felt cheap.
There's one on ebay similar for £8900....supplied new by King Fook Gold...nice.

I recently picked up for 16700 for like $10.5k with a black bezel, and that watch feels like a $500 watch. I can’t imagine what the Tudor submariner feels like if you’re describing it like that

As they say, a rising tide lifts all boats. The commitment to the ceramic bezel for the sub drives the nutty prices of vintage Rolex subs, which then drives demand for the vintage Tudor subs.
