RSC Question

I don’t plan on having a watch serviced anytime soon but I saw a watch for sale with different serial numbers that got me wondering. Let’s say you send a really banged up watch to RSC that needs new parts, when they replace those parts do they make sure the serial numbers match?

If the case is replaced the serial number will not be the same as the original.

To my knowledge with Rolex only the case serial number matters as they don’t match movements serial numbers to cases, as done by Omega (for example). When you say a Rolex with unmatching serial numbers what do you mean?

Timepiece Gentleman was selling a YM that seemed to not having matching serial numbers but maybe they were scratched out? I’m not familiar with all the parts that contain numbers

The case has a serial number and the movement has a different serial number, and while unique to us, Rolex knows which movement goes with which case. All the little parts that may need replacing do not have serial numbers, so they change nothing.

If TPG or any secondary market dealer sold a watch with matching movement/case numbers, then that watch is not authentic. The numbering system for bridges and cases have never matched in modern Rolex history.
