Putting Deposits On Orders?

Wondering if anyone actually put deposits for watches but never ended up getting anything after several years? I gave 20% down on a few like 2 years ago and still nothing. These were for gold sport models .When I ordered them they weren't trading way over retail like this but now subsequently its changed obviously.

What I don't understand is when they take the order are they submitting it to Rolex and then it gets fulfilled eventually or are you essentially just added to the wait list and when it comes in randomly and is your turn you then get the watch . I assume its probably every AD does it differently but wondering if anyone has actually waited years never to receive anything and had put down money what happened, like did you get a refund or what?

2 years is a long time for 20% down. What’s the most recent update when you asked your AD?

Don't know about others but I would request my deposit be refunded and I would use another dealer. I've never heard of an AD requiring a deposit. Since you put down a cash deposit you should have been placed at the top of the list in my opinion..

I put a $1500 deposit in March 2016 for a 116500 white dial. The deposit was 100% refundable at anytime due to the length of time waiting.

Received the watch April 2019 - a good 3 years later, glad I waited it out.

Times were different back then (2016), but in your case I would follow up with the AD to ask.

she basically is just saying they haven't been getting much of anything and to try and be patient and its not her fault. I don't want to bother them if i don't have to and I dont think she knows the answers but I do wonder if when I ordered it gets sent to Rolex or what happens.

Personally I would never put down a deposit, too much uncertainty. I'd rather just be patient and cross my fingers :)

Get your money back before the AD closes like so many others.

I’m not philosophically opposed to deposits but letting one ride for two years is too long, I’d get my money back. Two years ago dealers could probably ask for “some” gold watches, I think everything is more random now. Still, unless you’re asking for some very unusual reference, the store has likely gotten some but not delivered them to you.

Go in and ask for your money back. You may see your watch show up very fast.

May be OP was asking for WG GMT meteorite or YG Daytona green dial. These two model are very hard to get, so it could be longer than 2 years.

Putting Deposits On Orders?

I’m don’t think the deposit goes to Rolex. It stays with the AD most likely. AD decides who they want to allot once they get the pieces from Rolex. But if you’ve put down deposits for a few, I think you should keep on following up with them regularly as some of them is bound to come in stock with them in two years I guess. Also if they’re rare pieces like the green dial daytona or the meteorite gmt or olive green daydate, it may take time I guess. As they’re first given to VVIP clients. But with the deposit for two years already, I’m sure you’re pretty near in getting them. I’d say just keep on following up and don’t lose patience. Else it’ll be back to zero with another AD.
