Well partner, I don't know what else to tell you. It was too big for my tastes. I'm quite happy for anyone who likes it. Again, it's just personal preference.

i can understand that, i actually think the clasp on the 11 series submariner is my favourite rolex clasp i love the length of it.

maybe a jubille would work better for you.

so do you still own any watches aside from rolex?

Oh yeah, I don't think I could ever be completely watchless! I just acquired a couple of Omegas, I have my old Hamilton field watch I've had forever, a G Shock of course, and a Farer compression diver.

That’s. A great idea Jay.

Also, the YM40 with mini glidelock might be the Goldilocks …. Should be on all the professionals IMO

I came to the exact same realization as you about the sizing, clasps, etc.

I still own a 1675 which will always stay in the collection, but I've moved everything else. Recently purchased a Zenith Chronomaster Sport. Really impressed at how well the watch wears and its ergonimics on my 6.5-inch wrist.

The new clasp is a strong point on the watch. It's actually meant for driving so the watch can expand to fit over a wet suit and fit securely. It works well as a casual watch, but it was designed to be a cutting-edge diver's tool watch.

You'll be back. There are references without the footlong.

Hey I totally get it. It's great for some people it just wasn't for me. And to be fair anyone who is taking their sub diving these days is doing it as a nostalgic novelty.

OP, you are not alone. I like it here and I have never even owned a Rolex as I tend to prefer different brands...

Go with a 34mm piece.

How about a 5 digit sub/gmt? That or a new 36mm explorer if you want modern. Daytona also more like 39mm with small clasp.

Just point by point real quick..

The five digits, to me anyway, ain't worth near the current market price. The explorer is nice enough but I like a dive bezel on a three hand watch. And finally, there's no chance in hell any AD anywhere would allocate me a Daytona, and I'm sure not going to pay 40 grand for a used one.

If you ever decide to get back into Rolex, try the 5 digit sports references. The 14060, 16610, 16710 and 16570 all work well on smaller wrists.

C Willis, ownership is not a requirement to be a part of TRF, you are still welcome. Your Omegas sound nice too!
