Recent Acquisition (16710 Content)

Just wanted to share my recent acquisition, a beautiful 16710. I purchased this a while back but only got it in my hands the other day. A stunning watch and I cant believe I didn't grab one years ago (which would have financially sensible). Looking forward to playing around with the bezel inserts, the flexibility is a big part of what drew me to this watch and is a very rare thing especially on a watch such as this. Its in incredible condition for its age and I couldn't be happier.

Enjoy

Congrats! It’s my favorite Rolex. I have the red/blue bezel insert and the all black. I’m going to have to add the red/black one at some point. Yours looks great.

Thanks. Yeah you just have to have all three. Although I don’t think I’ll be swapping this for a while. The coke is just perfectly classy.

Really is in fantastic condition. The deployant hinge is even still stiff and like new. Must have barely been worn and pretty sure it’s never seen a service/polish. Safe queen perhaps. Now up to me to look after her but will most definitely be worn a whole lot.

Timegrapher says it’s running strong and 3/4 seconds fast. Amazing for a 17 year old watch really.

You found a real nice example of the best watch Rolex ever made. Great addition to your collection too.

Thanks everyone. Been wearing it for the last week or so and it just wears so well. They really nailed it with these. I guess I'm more of an understated person as the flashier 6 digits are pushing it a tad for me. The vintage charm is just so alluring.

I recently picked up a 16700 and I had forgot hot great the 5 digit references wear. If they ever came back with something like these they would be impossible to get your hands on.

I also can use two inserts but with so many replicas not sure how to be assured we're getting OEM..

Anyone have any input on where to get authentic inserts?

This, and hang onto it. Had one a few years back & let it go. Fortunately I've still got a 16713 Rootbeer, so all is not lost. $ well spent to.

RSC. The fakes are everywhere and people are selling alleged OEM on ebay for $400+.

There's plenty sellers on the forum here in the parts section. Most fakes are fairly easy to spot. Chrono24 has a fair few also. Just look to get one still in the blister and from a reputable dealer/seller to be sure.

Or try a local watchmaker or RSC and see if they can get the one you are after. I'm keen to pick up some spares also just for comfort in case they get harder to get. Surely they wont be made forever. I wonder how many Rolex have sitting in their warehouse.

Thanks guys, I'm stopping by my AD tomorrow and will ask if they can get the inserts. I ordered a Jubilee for my 16710 a few weeks ago and that should be in soon.

Hope they are still available..I'll report back what I find out!

I met with my AD today and asked about inserts for the 16710. I was told Rolex no longer sells them. I asked what they went for when they did..and of course it's low...$60

But on a positive note, my order for a Jubilee bracelet for the 16710 was placed about 6 weeks ago and should be in...."soon".

Interesting, may be moving to replacement only at time of service. Who knows every one will have a different tact. Defo gonna grab a spare set of all 3 over time so I’m covered.
