How Do You Feel About Warranty Papers vs Service Card

So I’ve been put in a great position to buy a certain watch I was looking to buy for a while. I know not having any warranty card is a minus (price should reflect that also) but this situation is a bit different.

1) fresh out of RSC, but minus original warranty card. Mint condition.
2) not serviced but has original warranty card. Also needs a bit of a polish

Price is about the same, and I intend to wear it and keep it. However really on the fence on which I should pull the trigger on.

If #1 comes with Service Card I would go that route, especially if the watch is more than 7-8 years old. If less than that then I would buy based on condition.

I’d take #1, if you are talking vintage I might go for original box and paper.

If the RSC card is legit and the watch is more than five years old, the is adequate to establish provenance ... or at least genuineness ... and you don't need the original warranty card/paperwork. Box and papers are cool and will both cost and glean you more money when you buy and sell. But they're not necessary if the watch is the one you want. And the RSC card will confirm to any future buyer, as it will to you, as best is possible, that the watch is legit. Keep in mind that papers both can and are pretty easy to forge. There just ain't no guarantees in life.

Afraid the so called papers and even the plastic cards are far easier to fake than the watch today. So myself always go on condition whether any service history then the price, a box which is quite a poor box in todays watch world, or in most cases a outdated warranty take second place for me.

Original warranty card after expiration of warranty is useless in my opinion. Actually it's a negative if it has someone else's name on it, and the name of some AD that I've most likely never been to or have any connection to. This is just my opinion. If there are $500-$1000 or more to be saved by not having those items in a deal, I am game for that.

Thank you! Looks like I am going with the better condition watch in this case as it is 18 years old so the service is a plus. The seller for #2 has ghosted me anyway so it is not likely to work out.

A watch that comes fresh from RSC with RSC paperwork has both a warranty and documentation on its authenticity, plus you won't have to worry about servicing it again for a while. I would consider this better than "box and papers".

Always prefer the full set but make sure it includes the ziplock for the hang tags. That’s a must.

It kind of depends of what watch you're talking about. What model?

Just knock $1,000 off the price and do it. I have a 520 unpolished coming tomorrow. Can't wait!

Option : 1) fresh out of RSC, but minus original warranty card. Mint condition.

For vintage Rolex that is my ideal criteria to purchase

I'd much prefer a current Service Card to any expired papers.
