Help coach John Calipari find his Rolex

Even for someone with the resources like John Calipari, that has to be an terrible feeling. Apparently it was his "lucky" white gold day-date that he had had for quite a while.

WHILE AT THE WOMEN'S CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT IN NASHVILLE
" [Calipari] I threw my arms in the air celebrating and my white gold Rolex popped off my wrist. If you find it, I have a reward!"

I put it in slow motion, looks like it when directly behind him either one or 2 rows.

Yep. I believe it was the coach that actually found it.

Curious as to the model. And here's a thought...

Cal, if you're wearing it loose enough to fly off your wrist when you raise your arms, you seriously need to get it sized by someone who knows what they're doing.

lol right? I cringe when i see folks wearing any watch (not just rolex) super-loose and see it riding up and down their wrists. would drive me nuts to have my watch doing that.

I would take a guess that the clasp failed and popped open if it was a day-date, especially an older one. My 18038 used to pop open when I clapped it was a real pain in the arse.

Interesting. Did not know that. I've had DD's where the clasp had some play in it, but never any that would pop open.

Either way, it sounds like our man Cal needs to have someone (who knows what he's doing) look at that watch before he loses it for good.

Maybe he lent it to Marcus Camby.

Coach Cal is a cheater and really a bad guy. I worked with him for a while and it was one of the most distasteful experiences. I don't care how good a coach he may be. He's a jerk in real life.

My 16238 did that until I used a flathead screwdriver to increase the spacing between the male tabs that engage the opening in the other clasp blade.

Cal confirming he found it. Nice looking Day-Date although in an interview, he claims his favorite "Rolex" was a $19 one he picked up on the street.

Yeah. The fake Rolex bit started to make me lose interest in the story pretty quickly.

But - one other interesting tidbit: He also stated the DD was given to him by his wife as a Christmas present, that she paid for with his money. Yes, he said that.

Now, I'm no expert on the state of matrimony, but, I'm pretty sure that's not going to get many points with the wife.

Watchwatcher, it's hard to know with Cal what's real and what's not. I guess a charitable way to describe him is that he likes to embellish a bit. I am suspect he doesn't actually wear a fake Rolex very much. Agree with the comment about his spouse using his money . . . definitely not something I would say, and really rubbed against the grain to me. Different strokes for different folks, though.
