Most competitive markets for Rolex?
Just wondering if big cities like NYC, LA, Las Vegas, Chicago, Miami are far more competitive markets when it comes down to getting a Ref. allocated. Logic will tell you, YES!!! But doesn’t Rolex recognize that and allocates more watches to those ADs based on population?
Or is it easier to get a Rolex and build a relationship in less populated areas? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Purely anecdotal but…I just moved from a big city and my AD there is one of the highest volume dealers in the US. In my new home, there are only four dealers in the whole state. The AD nearest to me is an old fashioned family full service jeweler with the Rolex/Tudor section on one full wall of their showroom. This is the kind of store that seems to be getting dropped a lot these days but I don’t think it’s that simple. The region has a lot of wealth with three Fortune 500 companies headquartered here so I would think RolexUSA wants to be represented here.
I have been in and spoken to their pair of Rolex specialists, one of whom is also a certified watchmaker. They tell me they would love to have me as a customer but were also very frank about their allocations versus my big city Boutique. I know this doesn’t exactly answer the question but the choice is “making the list” at a high volume dealer or waiting on a dealer that sees much less inventory. I believe high volume is the way to go. |

My guess would big large metro areas are more competitive with more demand than supply. Small town areas are probably better even with less allocation. I think half of it is just likability and luck.
