Never a bad idea to take your time and think on it. That Day Date looks amazing. If it were me I’d keep it. You’ll make the right call.

THIS.

You are going to be so sorry you did this. Trust us older guys. Regret is real. Especially when it's letting go something sentimental.

I personally have never owned a day date, but striving to obtain own one. Outside looking in, I would keep the Day date based on sentimental value and me wanting an olive Green Day date. Lmao.

I wouldn’t make the trade.

Sentimental value is a priority for me. The honeymoon phase of any watch (even the so called “grails”) will eventually wear off and all that is left is the sentimental value. I have a JLC that I haven’t worn for almost 10 years. I would never trade that piece as it was my very first mechanical watch and it was given by my mother after I finished college. I still remember the details of the transaction and the time I spent shopping with my mother. It’s precious memory.

Plus, you already have a black SS daytona. Is saving up an option?

No Way - sell the black daytona and get the white

I would keep it, but if you want something smaller, I would suggest a 118239 or a 118206.

If you want a SS Daytona now might be your best time to pull a deal as it might be worse for you next year??????
I believe a watch collection is a journey and value the experiences made with the watch on my wrist.

You do have a killer DD but I will tell you the flatter case back of the Daytona and lighter weight will be noticeably more comfortable. The Daytona design is legendary for its comfort so if your DD was bothering your wrist, you should trade out of a uncomfortable watch you won’t want to wear.

As far as looks, the white/panda SS Daytona is much more sporty looking over the DD. The SS Daytona has its own swagger that makes it a rock star. Your DD is more sophisticated and dressy. So there is clearly two different vibes and that is a factor in which matches your own personal style.

I have owned a lot of Rolex models and admit the SS Daytona has a “X factor” that surprised me when getting mine. It’s a special watch.

That all said as thinking points, only you will know if it’s the right move. You have a gorgeous DD so it’s not like your ”need” to jump right in to a higher price point of watch because you already are playing there now with what you own.

This thread needed a Daytona pic.
Thanks for your input. Putting sentiment aside, I know the daytona is more comfortable and I'd wear it more often than the DD.

I am quite a sentimental person when it comes to my things but I also want to learn not to put too much values on things. I think its better to have a watch that you can wear and enjoy your life with than one that you dont wear.

Keep the DD and trade the black Daytona with a white dial.

Thanks for your input. Yes I am afraid that I will regret this trade but on the other hand, I think having a watch that I wear once or twice a year is not ideal. I am not enjoying the watch no matter what the sentiment is.

Have you been in this position before? Would love to hear your stories

Try adjusting the bracelet by moving a link or two from the 6 o'clock to the 12 o'clock side. I've found centering the clasp (to include the long blade) makes a lot of difference in how that bracelet looseness or tightness feels...if that makes any sense. So, bottom line, I would try tinkering around with it before you make any rash decisions.

As far as trades go, I feel like the money's a little on the light side...but, we are talking about a watch with the word 'Daytona' on the dial, so, all logic goes out the window when that happens.

My DD40 was moved along as a result of no adjustability. I was routinely frustrated on sizing and moved links around often trying to achieve that perfect fit. I think due to the weight it is even more critical.

What stinks is I do miss it, but I ended up with a WG Sub and am really enjoying the glide lock clasp.

Yup, Regardless how good a watch looks, if it’s not comfortable I won’t wear it and always gravitate to my more comfortable watches. I let some killer Rolex models go because they were not comfortable enough to compete with my other Rolex models that were comfortable.

^^^^Totally makes sense and exactly the move I would have made if you want to stay PM. You can’t lose with the WG Sub. It’s a stunner.

trade it, if the other Daytona is gonna bring you more joy and wear time, why not. its oke to have multiple of the same in your collection (assuming its a different color dial)

You can always purchase another watch, but you can never purchase sentimental value
