Hi all,

I just picked up this GMT Pepsi 16710 last month and the AD told me it was manufactured in 1995. Serial begins with "T" which leads me to believe it was made in 1996. I also read that Rolex began using luminova in 1997-1998. I think mine has luminova since it doesn't say T<25 on the dial.

Does determining date of production have that much variance?

There is nothing written in stone when it comes to dating guesses for Rolex production.

It is generally agreed that T serials were first seen in the market place in 1996, so an argument could be made that they were actually manufactured in '95 in order to get there. But, again, nobody has truly scoured the world to know exactly when T's were first seen - charts are guesses.

However, a Swiss Made dial on a T serial would likely indicate that the dial was changed during its lifetime, not uncommon at all for 30 year old watches.

Mine is a T serial as well. Has the t<25 tritium dial which makes me believe it’s never been serviced.

You probably have a '95 or '96 (based on the serial) with a service dial. I suspect the bezel insert was also replaced during the service.

T serials ran form 1995 well into 1996 possibly longer as many serials overlap a year or so, and serials indicate when the case was stamped which is not always when it was made.

Mine is an "N" (nov. 1991) tritium dial , just picked up from RSC , and didn´t change the dial . I guess that not all the RSC has the same approach about the tritium dials .

Dials are never changed without your prior approval because you would be paying for the new one.

You don't collect your watch from service and hope that it wasn't swapped.
