Spring drive accuracy

Why isnt there a more accurate version of Grand Seiko spring drive movement. The best spring drive has an accuracy rating of +- 10 seconds a month but the best Citizen Chronomasters have an accuracy rating of +-5 a year. The minimum accuracy rating I accept is +-10 a year Why doesn't Seiko use more accurate HAQ crystals to regulate the glide wheel.

purely guessing, but perhaps the nature of the hybrid movement that's not directly driven by a step motor, won't allow for that degree of precision ?

I'd be curious though, if GS aren't striving to make a movement to beat the Citizen for the Quartz line.

Well, the Citizen Chronomaster is a straight up quartz movement with fewer moving parts than a Spring Drive, isn't it? My Seiko 9F quartz just did exactly a year with only +1 sec total: http://www.rolexforums.com/showpost....1&postcount=66

Also, most people seem to report better than -/+10 secs a month for their Spring Drives: www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=820070

My Spring Drive SBGE253 gained 2.7 seconds in a month. Most accurate mechanical watch on the planet. My full quarts G-Shock isn't even as accurate as my GS

This. As far as I know, no other mechanical watch comes close

Agree with this. I picked up an SBGA415 about 8 months ago and it runs at a consistent +7 secs/month. The AD where I bought it mentioned that most customers report +/- 10 secs/month as well.
