Acurate time

I have noticed people really track the acuracy of their Rollies to see any "out of tolerance" watches.

What is a good resource for setting and tracking the acuracy? Is there a website?
I believe the acceptable tolerance is -4/+6 sec's per day.....or am I out of tolerance

Keep up the good work

Hi Larry,

While most guys use some website...I think it is www.govt.com I prefer to just listen to the beeps on any local radio station. These beeps are 6 in number, the first beep starting when the centre sweep touches '11' and the final beep when the sweep touches '12'. These beeps are sounded on the hour every hour.

Works for me!!

Website time

Try www.time.gov and click on a US time zone. Actually, all you're probably looking for is the seconds count, so then you can click on any of the options and count away.

Cheers.

My SD is more accurate now after I dropped it on my bathroom tiles face down last on Thursday LOL So if your watch is not within spec I suggest dropping it face down on some ceramic tiles

The COSC chronometer standard is -4/+7 over 24 hours, but the most important with any watch is consistency. Now if a watch is running 5 minutes fast or slow consistently its still a very accurate watch.Just needs a bit of regulation,if you want to do a time check do it over a week, with the check done via the same time source.

You STOP the second hand at 12:00. You turn the crown counterclockwise until it pops out, then pull it out all the way. This will activate the "hacking feature", stopping the second hand (I recommend at the 12:00 position). Then just turn the minute hand to the correct NEXT minute of the time signal and when it gets to 12:00, push in the crown and lock it by turning it clockwise. The watch is then synced to the correct time.

I use a professional DCF time signal receiver. Near Braunschweig in Germany is a time transmitter controlled by several Cesium atomic clocks that sends out a time pulse. The receiver picks this up and adjusts the quartz clock that it controls. This is my time source. But as Padi said, it is the consistency that makes up a good instrument. A watch may be 23 seconds behind but when it is always 23 seconds behind it is very accurate.

But you have to ask yourself a question. Do you know of an appointment that must be one minute accurate? I don’t. But I acknowledge the fact that you expect high accuracy out of that $4000 watch.

There was a time that clocks only showed the hour and before that there were no clocks at all. Don’t let the clock dictate your life!

Pull the crown out almost to the last stop, then wait until the second hand gets to the 12:00 point and immediately pull the crown out to the last stop. This will "hack" the second hand (stop it).

LOL!!! I see you figured it out and changed your original post! Good deal!!!

Great responses.....
Although, I have yet to be to an appointment where their watches we syncronized with mine, as acurate as it may be. So someone is always early/late...
Now that I checked, none of the clocks in my house match either, go figure.

I like the long life in these watches. I have had my Sub for 20+years and it still looks like the day I bought it. These watches NEVER go out of style. You can give them to your kids one day and so on. The watch will probably outlast me!!!
I think that is what we pay for....and will continue to pay for.

No price hikes here in Macau and none forecast either. Was at the AD yesterday looking at JJ's favorite...TT sub, blue dial. Quoted me $6100 USD. Also looking at a TT Daytona, white dial, quoted $9600 USD.

Have a great weekend everyone.....
