Let’s see if I can post a picture of my wife’s present to me for our 2016 wedding....

I’m still amazed by how beautiful this watch is!!
(Now, the service level from Breguet is the subject of another thread all together.... For another day!)

Yep, it’s a “serpentine” hand for the date. Ref #3040.

Really fun guilloché !

What a beautiful watch love it!

What issues did you have with service? I bought mine knowing it would need a service in near future so that worries me a bit. I was planning on dropping off at the new york authorized service center.

Aye-yi-yi!!!

First story:
I don’t think I have enough room on this post to tell you the back-and-forth, poor communication and “nickel and diming” that occurred when I sent my wife’s Lady Marine (not this watch) in for service!

The local A.D., trying to keep up the appearance of high end professionalism, made a real jackass out of himself, trying to defend the Company.

He quoted a price for full service. (About $1k). I agreed, and asked him if he could date to watch as well. We had bought this preowned, but I never got the date of manufacture (unlike Rolex, or Gibson guitars, you can’t just look up the date from the serial number).
I was quoted 2 to 3 months.

Let me skip most of the details here, because you’d fall asleep (or quietly slit your wrists), but I started receiving a series of calls from the AD, with requests from Breguet NY, and then Switzerland, each about 4 to 6 weeks apart.

1. They wanted approval for an extra $500 to “polish”. I said no.
2. They wanted to replace a “missing part“ in the clasp - $350. I wasn’t even aware it was missing, but we gave approval for that.
3. They tried to raise the price of the service by $500, but when I vehemently balked, they “made an exception“ and honored the first estimate.
4. Told me they would give me no official Breguet certificate that they had serviced the watch. (I would only have the receipt from the AD). But, I could purchase a certificate of authenticity for $1450!! I said no.
5. Repeatedly, told me they could not give me a date of manufacture because I was not the first owner. I explained this was a legitimate purchase, the watch was not stolen, and I was paying for a full traditional service with them.
when I asked if they thought that no Breguet was ever transferred to a second owner, they had no answer.
(there’s a lot more “interesting“ details to this part of the story...)

Finally received it back (after almost monthly calls), about 10 months later.

Second story:
I also own a Breguet Type XX Transatlantique. When I had that serviced (through Tourneau) about five years ago, it came back with a fingerprint under the crystal (!). No joke. It was sent back to them by Tourneau, but then took another 3 months to get it returned. Honestly… It was their screwup, but they wouldn’t expedite it!

While I love these incredibly beautiful watches, I have a real problem with a company that has such poor customer service.
(On the other hand, I drive a Tesla. Have you ever tried calling the company for a service related question? So I admit it… I’m inconsistent!!)

Anyone else have any stories about Breguet service?
I’m sure everyone’s mileage varies, and I hope your upcoming experience goes smooth as silk!! Enjoy your weekend!

The best service I had on my yellow gold 5817 was at the NYC boutique - they got me a certificate of authenticity for free with my blue rubber strap (matches the blued hands and numerals). I took it to the Miami Tourbillon as well but they were very slow and that location is closed now.

I am interested in selling my 5817, in very good condition with both gold keepers, and 3 OEM straps (black and blue rubber and black gator). It is an amazing piece but I find the full yellow gold too showy and my steel omegas get all the wrist time. Please PM me if interested.

Ha!
My nightmare experience was from the Tourbillion, too! (San Francisco)

Which 5817 do you have? You say gold, but I see them in SS, online. Can you post a picture? Like I said, they’re really beautiful watches!

yikes, SF Tourbillion is my local AD as well. I haven't purchased a Breguet from them (yet), but I was considering it...

Luisa at the NY Breguet Boutique has taken good care of me. For service of all my watches, I go to Henry Ly at watchmakingproject.com.
