i need an everyday tool watch, any ideas? something that may get beaten up

i’ve got a white gold ym 42 and a blue skydweller jubilee off my ad but i need something to wear for work which can be manual sometimes. any recommendations? i like 42-43mm watches
currently looking at these
been wearing my ym 42 a lot and it’s getting badly scratched, probably go grey on anything

I have owned many watches under $500. The only one that’s held up for more than a year is a g-shock. I wear my sub 24/7 and I am a very hands on guy in a very rugged environment. My five digit Sub is still running great and still on my wrist over 2 yrs later.

Im so impressed it’s actually solidified the whole “Rolex is a tool watch” for me. So my vote would be a 5 digit sub.

I would look at the Seiko Turtles and specifically the King Turtles. 45mm but very wearable, sapphire crystal, ceramic bezels, rubber straps and bracelets all for around $600 dollars before you shop for a discount. They are tanks, keep good time and you can beat them up and they just keep on going. Be careful though, once you get the Seiko bug and see the quality, value and durability they will always be a few in the collection. Here are mine.

run a retail company but have to get involved on the shop floor a lot, building displays and other things, staff shortages these days!

Look at a Fifty Fathoms Bathyscape in ceramic. Great movement, history and IMO blows those four out of the water.

Favorite of those four is the DSOTM but for practicality I'd go explorer, all steel and easy to transition. Ceramic can chip if dinged hard. If its only scratches your concerned about then Omega.

Cool, then the Omega or something with a durable ceramic bezel to deal with 'scratches'... or not. Your call.

ADDED: While the PAM CF case is probably your best bet of your choices, and I have their 1118 TRON, PAM's movement and overall increased pricing scheme makes me hesitant on a value basis (customer service has been excellent). So call me a bit torn.

PS: Tudor BB Ceramic is one heck of a durable beast that's hard to scratch and METAS certified if your job involves magnetics. Aftermarket strap on pic below.

i’ve actually had the chrono version in ceramic, i’m ocd and didn’t like the strap gap to the watch, could see too much wrist. loved the watch though. i know at heart i’m a brand snob, and i’m going to end up with an explorer 2 or an sd43

there’s a new carbo tech panerai sub out but it’s £14000, suicide. if it was £8k i’d be buying it

i just read that they are pretty resilient, don’t scratch and don’t shatter like ceramic but have no experience

i really like the 1118. i have seen one for £12500 but i worry that the gimmick will fade quite quickly. is it worth the cash?

Worth and value are fluid... but you do get a 70-year warranty with the 1118 so over time the included service gratis kinda makes it a free timepiece. Am handing mine down to my wife's daughter who thinks it's the coolest watch she's ever seen. She'll never have to worry about service costs.

If you love TRON, I vote yes. If you love lume art, I vote yes.

You'll never see brighter lume, it's incredible!
