APH White Dial Rarity

Hi guys,

I’m close to picking up a white dial 116520 ‘APH’ and was wondering if anyone could help me understand how many years these specific dials were, which serial numbers they are common in etc.

Thanks in advance!!

I see more of the “error” dials than the normal ones. I don’t think they’re anywhere near as rare as folks make them out to be

The APH is just another fad to bring in some premium price based on perceived rarity. None of these modern watches is particularly rare. My advice would be to choose the one in the best condition your money can buy!

I actually don't think the OP asked whether the dial is common or rare. Maybe he is trying to authenticate the watch that he is considering.

OP, perhaps instead of asking a generic question and asking for a comprehensive data dump from the membership about this particular dial (which is already addressed on some websites), you can turn things around and ask a specific question about the watch you are considering. For example, you can show photos, and give information about the serial of the watch, and ask if people think it seems legit.

There is no real answer to your question.

The APH dials were throughout the model 11652x dials between around 2011 to 2014, but nothing is absolute with Rolex.

They are erroneously called "error" dials, but it is clear that the dial maker cut and used the ink print tamps on black, white, champagne, and other dials. This would likely mean that there are many, many of them out there.

Some like to collect the odd things, so only you can decide if such a dial is worth any premium, or just an oddity you might want.

Black APH are much more rare than white dial…..white dial are dime a dozen and APH dials are being used as service dials in the 116520……

For those who think APH dial deserves a premium over standard good condition 116520.

Picture taken from Google image.

so tomorrow all of us should pay a dentist to create a gap between our teeth instead of doing bracers to bridge them :D

I second this. And as for me I would probably go for 16520 white dial or the modern 116500LN as my choice for a white Daytona. But as for the black dial I would certainly go the 116520.

I agree and had a so called APH dial Daytona. But where is the line then, stick dial, flat 4, mark I, II, Bart Simpsons, etc. the reality is because there are so many made there are slight variations and once a given number of folks “buy in” to the concept, it becomes a “real” or “official” designation in the community. I mean to some degree either differences matter or they don’t. And if differences do matter than that’s in the eye of the beholder, and there is a lot of money chasing finding as many differences as the eye or loupe can eek out
