16610 from 1987 or from 2010

Hello enthusiasts,
I am struggling with an a thought - if I have a chance to pick from Submariner 1987 or the 2010, both in good condition and the same price, which you will choose?

Thanks, Allan

"Good condition" doesn't mean much to me. It would depend on the details, so I'd need to see some good clear photos. For example, what does the lume look like on the 1987 watch?

1987 - you can always buy new but you can't always buy old.

The 16610 was introduced in 1989, and the ceramic 116610 in 2010

I would want to see what you are looking at.

I’d be struggling more with the seller of a 2010 and 1987 16610 As Larry noted, the reference didn’t exist in those years.

Pics of both please, if the 1987 is in excellent shape as in lightly to barely polished, original dial & hands w a creamy patina as an added bonus then the 87 would be the winner. But pics would be needed to make a fair judgment on one vs the other.

Hmm, should I have an apple or an orange?

Whichever watch you prefer, sir. It's your choice. Both are awesome.

I assume the '87 is not a 16610 but instead is a 16800(0), which are super cool, especially if it's got all of its original tritium with patina, and original date wheel with open 6s and 9s. I'd definitely go old-school, assuming equal condition with the ho-hum 16610 from 2010.

(I'm biased).

Not just the dial. Your case also seems sharp as a crispy cracker, with original chamfers etc.
Excellent!
