The Sportech Velcro came in the box with my 973.. I agree, it’s my favorite summertime strap ! I’m not sure if it’s available for purchase as I don’t see it on the Panerai site. Except for XS , Genuine Panerai Sport / Rubber straps seem to be in short supply !

Sorry for the redundant post!
My 973 also came with the Velcro strap and I agree.. it’s a great summertime option and looks great on the Sub. In general, there seems to be a shortage of sport straps available on the Panerai site... at least in regular and large lengths.

Did anyone ever find the reference number for the Velcro strap?

My sport tech strap on my 1661 never got wet but the material is coming apart after about a year and maybe wearing the watch 40x. Pretty lame

the lining to the sportech is actually rubber. The material does not wear well and rips pretty easily, especially on the tang buckle.

Similar to the sailcloth on the Blancpain FF.

I wonder if that is why Panerai stopped making them? Or, at least I'm assuming they stopped making them as I cannot find them on their website (although I can rarely find anything I need on their website).

Regardless, it is a shame. It is a nice looking strap.

It's definitely water resistant but stays damp after wetting and has frayed a little already at the buckle as the strap stays soft from the absorbed water.

A lovely looking strap but not a rubber replacement
Good to know. Love the look of this strap

Sportech can occasionally be found on eBay.
