Help me decide which vintage 5513 to buy

Hi All, I am new to this so please bear with me. I love the sub 5513 and I would like to get one, so I need your expertise and advice in deciding which type of 5513 to go for. I have seen countless of these watches with slight variations. I like the look of the early 60's ones with the meters first dial but I have seen later ones with feet 1st and maxi dials that are priced more. Why are these priced more? My gut feel is to go for a meters first watch and hopefully with a riveted strap. Any advice on which type of 5513 to go for would be appreciated!

This is a hard one because they are all beautiful. In my personal opinion the late 70s maxi dial ones are my favorite only because i love the big lum plots. But the meters first script is really cool too, and very collectible so you can't go wrong either way. It took me a while to decide which was my favorite... my advice is... just look at as many photos of different versions as much as possible and let your own taste form an opinion. Good luck!

If condition is there and price is not a factor the gilt dials are the pick of the litter.

Meters first is nice, but for me the maxi-dial versions are killer.

6.04mil Maxi,

Thanks Mike and that is a beauty. I will look at a few 5513s before taking the plunge!

I have a 1977 #5513 52xxxx serial. Great Looking Tritium Dial!
('circa approx.1975-'79)

The Luminova Dials from the 80's are not to my liking as the older pieces have that vintage look. Similar to the earlier 5513,5512,5508, 6538 & 6536 in dial appearance but these 70's 5513's are far less money then the previous like models..... for now...

Look for original family owners even if paperwork is missing,(as I found last fall), or pay up for a documented piece.
Best regards and Good Hunting!
