What year is my 1675 nipple dial root beer GMT Master
Hello,
Need help identifying the year on my 1675 Root Beer Nipple Dial GMT Master. I checked TOOLS guide and it looked to have landed on 1971-1972. I had it listed for sale and got questions from buyers regarding year and when i did my research the info i found was contradicting so would like help figuring this out. All help is appreciated. Can you open her up and look inside the case back? Should be right there.

I don’t have the tool for that but I can take it to my watch repair place and ask them to. Does it make any difference for a buyer if it’s 1970 or 1972, why do buyers want to know that? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

When selling, it's best not to pretend to know things you don't know. If you're not an expert, just admit it. Post good photos, put the numbers into the listing, and let the buyers do their own research. Otherwise you will end up with unhappy buyers when they believe that you gave them incorrect information. What if you claim it is 1971, and then a buyer opens the case and finds a 72 date code, or worse, a replacement case-back with no date. You haven't opened it, you don't have original papers, just state what you know.

Got it. That has been the plan, but in an effort to learn is the reason for the post. Not just to inform them, but also to inform myself. For now have left things general but if there is anything I can learn from the info provided I would be happy to figure things out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sometimes the clasp code can also give a hint of when the watch was sold, but your bracelet appears to be a replacement. Doesn't really affect value.

Based on the serial number, I would place it from late 1971, with a case back date from that era also.

Maybe someone wants to buy a "birth year" watch, for example.
