Do I have a Tudor Monte Carlo 7031?
Complete newbie here.
I’m trying to determine what exactly I have here. From what I can research I believe it’s a 7031 ‘home plate’. Are there any signs it’s a fake or not genuine? Any input on the ballpark value? It was given to my late dad by my grandparents when he turned 18. He passed it on to me when he passed a few years ago. The engraving on the back is “Roy Xmas ‘72” I don’t have the watch with me, it’s at my mom’s and I’m trying to limit contact during the pandemic. I will try get better pictures soon. Brett |

That is a nice watch man. It’s entirely legit, not a fake. It’s a very cool watch and quite unusual. Your family had great taste back in 72 and they held onto it. The band seems like a nice 7836 with 280 endlinks. PPost some better photos when you get a chance. You should look at Hqmilton website for price comparable. In my opinion, Tudor submariners from around 72 hit the 9-12k mark. This watch always was worth about 50pct higher. However, they don’t sell as well as everyone wants a Submariner. |

Looks great. We don't encourage valuations here, but if you still have the original box, warranty paper, and anything else it came with, the value, and interest factor, will be a fair bit higher.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Very cool to hear its authenticity. I’m afraid I don’t have any paperwork or box with it.
I’ll post some better pictures when I get a chance. Brett |

Although photo not really good enough to determine much, the dial looks unusually clean, the lume plots totally white. When you have the watch in hand post a clear higher res image. If all good, you have a fantastic and rare piece of history.

The homeplate markers are white, as stated by Rootbeer7. You'd expect them to be faded to yellow on a 1970s watch like this. I wonder if it's a replacement dial... Either way, it's a beauty. Need better high-res photos for a full consideration. |

Absolutely gorgeous watch with tons of sentimental value! That is a real beauty you've got your hands on, and the fact that it has been passed down as an heirloom from your gramps, to your pops and now to you is really something. It is definitely a valuable watch for sure. I sincerely hope you never sell it... If I were in your shoes and didn't need the funds, with it's family history, it would remain with me forever! Below is a link featuring a similar piece as yours. This may be a bit more valuable because of condition, as well as the yellowish patina (natural aging) on the lume plots, but it should give you an idea of what your watch could be worth.

Prices on Tudor Monte Carlos are only going to go in one direction. Get in if you can. |

Thanks for the comments everyone.
I actually am leaning towards selling it. There are other items from my dad and family that I cherish much more. Now that a few years have passed I’m okay with parting with it in favour of using the money to make new memories with our young family. I have no idea where to start with selling, so I’ll have to do some research. I will definitely post some high res pictures once I pickup the watch. |

Personally I'd keep it and sell it for double the value in five years if you don't need the money right now. The offspring will thank you. |

Unless you need the cash right now, you don't need to be in any hurry to sell it. Think of it as a college fund with sentimental value.

I wouldn't be too quick to sell it now, either. I have a 79160 that I've thought about selling on a couple of occasions in the past. Glad I didn't make that mistake (I'm wearing it this evening, in fact).
