2008 16613 real or fake, first Rolex purchase
Hi,
I am looking for a used 16613 to celebrate reaching career milestone and stumbled upon 2008 16613 offer on Chrono24. Rolex gurus, could you please help me identify is this watch real or fake, even though there are no obvious red flags, here are my concerns (visible on attached pics): - No papers or box - Private seller with no history - Much lower price for 2008 compared to other offerings - White font on bezel instead of yellow/gold - Crown is "lifted" or looks higher than supposed to be. On the bright side here is what I notice: - Rehaut engravings and visible M serial that correlates with 2008 claim. - Date is proper beige tint Thank you in advance! |

It’s not white font on the bezel. I believe the gold has faded off from wear.
As for the crown, it doesn’t look like it’s screwed down. Which may or may not be an issue. I never have my crown open unless I am setting the time or date. Maybe the seller opened it to move the hands? Pip looks awfully “patina’d” for a 2008 reference. My A serial pip matches the lume. So the pip on the watch you’re looking at could very well be replaced with one from an older model (pre luminova). Big tell could be the price. What are they asking? They are asking 10 500 €, all other listings from professional sellers are at least 3k more (but they are with box and papers, so maybe that's the price difference).

They are asking 10 500 €, all other postings from professional sellers are at least 3k more. But maybe difference comes from fact that others are with box and/or papers.

Per your PM. $10,500 is a lot for that watch. I’d sit back and wait a few months and see where the chips have fallen.

Again, to answer your second pm instead of a comment here.
No. I did not click on the first link you sent me and I will not click on the second link or any subsequent links. I suggest you stay around the forum and learn all you can about the reference you want and then make an informed decision. Sent from my Apple privacy invasion product |

Shouldn't the grooved part of the crown be shinier? Maybe it's the lighting, or tarnish (which doesn't seem to have impacted the outward facing part with the coronet). Other examples I've seen look more highly polished all over. Could it be an aftermarket replacement?
