Can anyone help with unusual Rolex date
Hi there,
can anyone help me out on the year of my Rolex watch that I have recently been given, Doing family research into the watch could possibly take it to 1920 to 1950 It was valued 23 years ago to include this write up. Boys Rolex Circular silvered dial 24.5mm diamiter, with gilt indices the arabic numerals 9,12,and 3 and subsidiary seconds. Confirming case signed Rolex stamped 9c and numbererd 080543 Fifteen jewelled lever movement. Case back inscribed (a name ) A later fitted expanding link bracelet with deployment clasp stamped 9ct METAL CORE and Maker HG&S with a stamp of a man or animal with a walking stick and the words CORINTHIAN and underneath PAT APP FOF. Done a bit research on HG&S Griffiths factory at Royal Leamington Spa We believe this mark refers to the silver and jewellery manufacturers, Henry established in 1850 by Henry Griffith (born 1825). This firm has records between1885 and 1947 So this probably puts the date of the watch 1947 or below The date or at least thats what I think it is of 080543 I cannot find anything online can anyone help please, and also it has SHOCK RESISTANCE printed around the lower dial with SWISS MADE underneath the lower dial. Thanks. |
