Seeking thoughts on this 1665 vintage rolex

Hi all,

Just had this vintage Rolex 1665 sea dweller passed down, and wanted to come here for some pre-consensus thoughts on whether it is real or not. Planning to bring this to a local jeweler for an official check.

Thanks

The fake bracelet might be a good place to start when trying to determine if the complete package is genuine.

Go to the double-red Sea-Dweller site and do some research on your watch. drsd.com

Unlikely any local jeweler would know what they’re looking at, and for, in a fake vintage Rolex.

Insert, dial, case, caseback are also fake.

What's your reason for saying it's fake? Just curious to know

As has been mentioned, if you go to DRSD.com, you’ll be able to see all variants of original 1665s, and you’ll also see yours is not among those.

OP, the watch isn't like oh that is close. Its fake. Very fake. The resource suggested and many legit dealers have photos of real ones. The only value here is possible sentimental to you.

Just by holding my own 1665’s in hand and compare, and look up this dial on DRSD.
The shape of the case is off, not possible from polishing because it’s bigger than the original for starters…

Very fake. I was offered a similar watch once in Hong Kong. At that time for 19,000 dollars. At the end of the day, someone bought this watch too. I don't understand why people offer something like this as original.

Greetings

best thing to do is not educate the fraudsters.

Especially since OFTEN they come in here as newbie accounts, just to test their goods for approval, to see if it passes, or to see why it doesn't pass...

A coincidence I’m sure but it’s funny you would say that when the OPs name is VERY close to a well known Vietnam “shop”…

Not keen on that Mk4 dial - I’d expect the depth ratings to be slightly bigger and bolder.

Uh, all I asked was if the watch I got passed down was real or not lol. Didn’t expect this to escalate to me being a fraudster lol

Yeah, and after your question was answered you want to know how we can tell it’s fake.
It’s just common sense, nobody here on this forum is going to educate you.

Hi Mnguy and welcome to the forum! Hope you hang around as this is a great place full of cool and slightly off kilter people. The 2 most asked questions in the vintage section are

1. What is vintage
2. Is this watch (usually followed by some inheritance matrix) and authentic Rolex

Don't be discouraged by the feedback most people who ask question 1 are just making conversation. Where as most people who ask question 2 want to know if they can get away with wearing a fake watch without fear of exposure.

Stick around, we grow on you ! I did give you a heads up (#15 above) on the dial. Btw this fake dial is a weird concatenation of a MK3 and MK4 - you can see that in the link sent to you on DRSD1665's by others earlier in the thread.
