Great review. Interesting seeing the sub and explorer side by side.
I love this watch. I actually wanted one rather than a recent 16610 purchase. What put me off were the huge price increases recently. It's actually the same cost as a 16610 with box and papers in the UK now. My thinking is that in a couple of years when I go for my next purchase the 16610 will have moved forward and 16570 prices may be similar to now. Who knows though! |

I haven't been following the market at all recently and didn't know this. But I went to Chrono24 and I guess you're right. They have increased a LOT just lately. Weird. Thanks for the comments man. Appreciated.

Don’t let this one go!
Mine is my winter adventure watch and it has served me very, very well in that capacity. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Great write-up. The Explorer II Polar was my first Rolex and is still one of my favorite time pieces.

No way. Selling ANY old Rolexes always turn out to be a mistake.

Thanks.
Was there something specific in that year? No lugholes anymore but didn't that change in 2004 already?

I love my 16570. What I like the most is how it goes unnoticed, huge sleeper.

This is my favorite Rolex, I just wish the clasp wasn't the old style it looks pretty dated. Is it possible to use the original bracelet but update the clasp to a more modern looking clasp?

The 16570 was my first ever Rolex purchase back in 1997-ish. I travel a lot and use the GMT function all the time and has been on my wrist almost everyday for the past 25 years. Love this watch. Excellent write up.

Yes. Especially the white dial version. It's a watch that you really appreciate when you look at the details. But on the wrist it's a real "stealth wach".

I love even the clasp. It's just "period correct" for that era. Sure it's a bit flimsy and the bracelet too. But very easy to use and always comfortable on the wrist.
