Will airport security machines affect my 1680?
Hi guys, I was wondering if the older Subs are affected by metal detectors or x-ray machines? I am traveling later this week and would like to wear my 1680, but I don't want it to get magnetized. I've never had an issue with my 2008 Air King, but I don't know what to expect with the Sub. Also, I did a quick google search on this topic and got some conflicting answers, so I hope you all can shed some light on this.

I've worn my 1680 through airport screeners multiple times and it still runs fine.

I usually keep my 1680 on my wrist through the TSA checkpoint...it seems rare that they ask people to take off their watches, at least in my experience...one time the TSA guy asked me about my watch and seemed fascinated by it being "vintage." So that was fun.

I'm finding that I'm less willing to wear hard-to-find and valuable watches on my travels these days. I'm not worried so much about airport security, just the general increased level of violent crime almost everywhere.

I had never notice a problem magnetized my vintage watches trough xray, sometime they used to ask me to take it off but not anymore recently.
For safety It depends where, I just came back from Japan and I had my 18K, if i'm not comfortable I usually take with me the snowflake or a 1675 tuned down by a Nato strap, when you turn it around is just a plastic bracelet |

I go through multiple metal detectors every day and my 5500 AK has not been affected.

These machines use X-ray. X-ray has no way to affect your watch. Now if it were MRI, that’s a different story. Wear as much as you want through the X-ray machines at airports.
