6105 Restoration

Hey folks, just joined hoping to get some advice. I have a two tone vintage 6105. It has a stretched oyster band. Also, at some point it was taken for service on the movement and the automatic movement was taken out, which I still have. It keeps pretty good time hand wound, but I’d like to send it to someone capable to see if the movement can be repaired and the watch band fixed.

Can you recommend how I should go about this?

Send the bracelet to Rolliworks in San Francisco. They should be able to restore it for around $600. It will look brand new and tight once done. You will want to send them your wrist dimensions because it looks like it is a few links short.

Most likely the watch maker couldnt find parts for the rotor since they are decades discontinued from Rolex, so they made the watch manual wind. You should be able to find parts for that rotor on eBay.

Not sure exactly which parts you need but this link is a start.

Super helpful. Thanks.

Are there any watchmakers I should contact that know these older watches?

It may or may not be known already to you/or bother you, but I suspect the dial might be repainted, as the ROLEX is lop-sided to the coronet above it, and there is no apparent SWISS / SWISS MADE footer under 6 HR marker.

Yeah, I wish I still had the old face. It fell onto a tile floor in the whole thing shattered. That was the best they could do

My vote goes to Phillip Ridley a CW21 watchmaker in Arizona who does a great job with Rolex vintage. He works with Drew Zimmermann in Pennsylvania for case restorations, and I would imagine bracelets.

Rolliworks moved to FL. They are great for bracelet repair.
