How about some evidence that you aren't a troll and agitator?

That’s all a bit harsh on Heliopause isn’t it? The main point being that the original poster was a up to no good and has been kicked off.

Aren’t stupid questions allowed?

Ask away. I love stupid questions.. Me thinks it makes me appear smarter than I am.

Of course. But, it wasn’t any stupid question that was the issue. It was that he (Heliopause) was accusing one of the more esteemed experts (jedly1) here that he was fabricating something and making unfounded claims.

I’ll put my thinking cap on and make sure to post them on this forum.

By the way I always appreciate your posts springer. They’re smart even when not answering a stupid question.

Because he doesn’t know any better. Everyone telling him he’s a twat doesn’t really help.

I don’t think anyone accused him of being a twat, per se. But his accusation was presumptuous and basically accused jedly of making up a story about the watch being his. Put yourself in Jedly’s shoes. How would you feel if someone asked you to prove a watch was yours? The onus wouldn’t be on you.

- how would I feel?

I wouldn’t care. I’d think that I’d done my bit and people could either take note or not. I might even be amused by someone asking me to prove it.

I’m sure he can take being asked a daft question better than someone who is relatively new having lots of criticism.

Then Jedly should defend himself if he wishes. I note that he hasn't and others are jumping to his defence instead, and on the assumption he didn't know who Jedly is (and why should he) those comments come across as a bit short.

Anyway, I'm wondering what the OPs angle was. Fishing for likes? Or hoping someone tries to buy a watch that he doesn't own.

Plain and simple ‘reputation/ item legitimacy washing’ :

1 sign up to a forum
2 make a few comments / likes
3 introduce a new incoming
4 get some ‘it’s legitimate, nice original piece’ type comments
5 ‘bank’ (hypothetically), the legitimacy history…
6 post up on another forum for sale with a history of the legitimacy of who you are and the watch in question (with links to esteemed forum)
7 Bingo - the scam completed !

Op forgot to do the very laborious and important step 2. though, and unwisely/greedily choose a uranium grade high profile watch step 3.

Too quick, and a somewhat gilt-edged, rookie error !!!!!

A forum version of money laundering, but with reputation instead of money!

I have been on this forum 9 years an I have/had no idea who Jedly was.

The OP has been exposed as a fraud and banned.

Heliopause, who has only been here 3 months has learned that Jedly is a very sophisticated collector, as have I.

Is there any point in keeping this post going? Or do we need to beat up on the new guy some more?

That will give you some idea...surprised after 9 years they have gone unread...or before challenging long term members, especially one who says it was his watch, a little research before shooting one’s mouth off...but, like the repetitive posts in the modern section, let’s stop now so someone else does it again in a week...and I fail to see how a few posts about it is “beat(ing) up” someone. Please.

Okay seriously Mods should just lock this thread now.

Think it’s served it’s purpose already.

At least the disagreement has raised awareness of the scam or scams in general.
