Dial Inspection
Anything off you can see on the L Series 16710 Pepsi dial? It looks like the 2 o'clock position lume is not filled in the all the way and slightly on the ring/white gold. Also on the outer edge of the 3-4-5 o'clock the black is missing/wearing? Around the 10-11-12-2 markers someone said it looked like it was losing it's gloss due sun exposure.

Besides what you mentioned, that dial is not correct for an L serial number. It is a much earlier dial, probably from a GMT II 16760 aka Fat Lady.
Below is the correct dial as found on this 16710 GMT II with an R serial number.

Is it reasonable to keep it or would it be wise to return. I've opened the case back and referenced the bracelet and it's all correct to a 16170 L series.

Personally, I would return it. The dial is definitely not correct contrary to other parts being correct.

Starting to think there's more not correct. The bezel insert I believe is fake. From a video I saw there should be a step down on the. backside, which there seems to be but it's pretty bendable and the video said fake ones are easily bendable and the real ones are much tougher.. Thoughts?

Starting to think there's more wrong with this.. the bezel insert. I watched a video about inserts and it said there should be a step down on the back side and should not be easily bendable, this one is pretty flimsy. The video showed how the real ones are much strong and not easily bent..

I must admit, you are a seller's (legit or not) worst nightmare....
You ask questions after the watch is received and now you are taking the watch apart and "testing" parts. Why not seek the forum's help before you purchased? What happens if the watch is legitimate and you end up damaging the watch through the disassembly process? p.s hard to be definitive on the insert, in some of the pics, it looks like hooked 2s but could just be the angle of the shot. Hopefully others can chime in. now stop playing with the watch! |

Personally, when I buy a watch, I remove the bracelet, open the caseback and remove the insert. No need to be an expert to do this, just some experience with tools and careful handling.
I see it the other way around: a seller that sells a watch with the wrong dial (damaged) and a fake insert (not saying it is the case here) is a buyer’s nightmare. It is the professional that should act as a professional by disclosing precisely every important details before selling.

Both could be better here. Buyer should check first with knowledgable people before the purchase if he's not that familiar with the reference. If the seller wants a good smooth transaction without any issues, important issues should be shared.

Thank you for the input, I am new to this and have learned alot in this process. I don't think removing a serviceable bezel insert or a serviceable case back is very crazy. No damage was done doing this, only used an old plastic card to remove the bezel to keep from marring, which came off easily, and a rubber ball to help losing the case back.
When the watch was authenticated by the selling dealer and sent with a certificate of authenticity and you receive it in person and start noticing inconsistencies then I would think a proper investigation would occur. Next watch I will ask for more photos and I suppose it's not uncommon to ask for photos of the movement? |

Asking for movement photos, engravings both sides are a must. insert is no good, as mentioned in the other thread.

Regarding the insert, I think it is an aftermarket insert simply because of the way the 20 and 22 align with the inner circle of the bezel. They don't. Much like this aftermarket insert on EBAY here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/310304838588

Thank you, I'd agree on this not being authentic as well. |
