Rolex 15200 gold replacement bracelet

Hi all,

I have a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date 15200 in gold that I inherited from my father. He unfortunately did not have the original bracelet (19mm)

I put a leather strap (Hirsh) on it and like it for the most part, but would to buy a gold bracelet for it. I spoke to the RSC and they quoted me 12K for a replacement bracelet(!!) which is more than the watch is worth.

Curious what others would do in my situation: 1 - Continue to use the leather strap 2 - Buy an aftermarket bracelet (gold or not) 3 - Wait until a good condition vintage bracelet comes to Ebay.

Great little watch you got there. The bracelet is expensive as its all gold so hence Rolex's quoted price.

It'll be hard to find a good condition used version (those bracelets tend to stretch, etc).

My suggestion is to just get a nice leather band and pair it with a gold Rolex buckle.

I guess it really depends how important the watch is to you. Objectively speaking, it would not be worth it for me to buy a solid gold bracelet for that watch. However, the watch has a lot of sentimental value for you, so you really need to follow your heart. Keep in mind that it will look a LOT more blingy with a gold bracelet. An alternative would be a nicer strap.

Thank you both. I think a solid gold bracelet is out of my price range right now, and yes perhaps too blingy as well to wear regularly.

Are there leather straps that you would recommend for this watch?

I have been looking to replace the bracelet on my 16808. I watch eBay religiously. There’s a few out there used, but the owners think they are selling gold…..hahaha. I will be here all night.

In all seriousness, if you haven’t sold the bracelet in 2yrs and are still asking 12k for it wouldn’t you entertain an offer of say 8k? Some people. Must be related to the folks who rather watch their classic cars rust to the ground then sell them cheaper than they want.

Technically they are selling gold :) Maybe we just need to wait for gold prices to go down! I think there's 50+ grams of gold in these bracelets.

I would buy a gold buckle and get a nice strap. This will give you time to think about it. The link below is a great shop to have a strap made. I got one for my grandpa's watch. I had a hard time finding a strap with the right vintage appeal and these guys nailed it.

You can use any strap, it's just personal preference. I really like Jones in Tokyo straps on Etsy. Torrestraps on IG is often highly recommend, and really goes the extra mile to create an authentic vintage style. For exotic skins, Tuns on Etsy makes really nice straps at good prices.

You could always keep the leather and find a Rolex gold deployment clasp. It would be so much cheaper than a full gold bracelet.

As above, I'd wear it on a leather strap (Horween Cordovan, brown or black) with a nice genuine Rolex buckle, then I'd consider a new gold bracelet from Rolex if/when finances allow.

Point of interest: Horween Cordovan leather is made from the hide of a horse's rump. :0) #BumLeather
