1987 Sub Date bracelet end link compatibility & general bracelet age range Qs..

Hi Subbies...

I have a 1987ish (S/N 942xxxx) stainless Sub Date with oyster I acquired it in 93-94. Very happy with it.

However, I'm a big guy & at max clasp adjustment, so it appears I need to add an extra end
link (i.e, at the end meeting the clasp assembly).

I can get factory end links in good shape from reliable sources, but:
  1. What Sub production date ranges have identical bracelets to my watch? (i.e., so could I
get end link from a, say 2009 cerachrom Sub and it will 100% match fit + appearance for my
    1986 bracelet).

[In fact I can get that part right now so that's why I'm asking.]

Or better yet, what date range bracelet parts will NOT fit/match my '86 stainless Sub.

  2. Should I actually get/install TWO end links & reduce the adjustment on the clasp?

Thanks-
Bill Wiese

What bracelet do you have, a 93150? If so, it will be easy to find extra links. I would try to find links for a similar bracelet, not the modern one. You can buy them on eBay, or you might even be able to get them from an AD.

Anyway, the thing to focus on is the type of bracelet, not so much the production date of the watch. Look closely at your bracelet and figure out what you have.

I dunno. I do not have the watch right now, it is in for basic service
(lube, gasketry) at a local Rolex/premium watch jeweler I've been using
for the last 25yrs

Where can I find this bracelet# (i.e, so I can ask the jeweler)?

It's stamped on last link before the end link eg 93150 and also one one of the clasp blades too.

Did you ask the jeweler to get you a link? If they are a Rolex AD, they can probably get one from the factory.
