Very rare Japanese movement edition. Highly sought after collectible.

Because it says “Japan,” and Rolex is Swiss, I gonna say ‘fake.’

Yes, this is obviously a genuine worthless thing.

And to be honest, I've never seen a cheap fake that not only doesn't look like as a Rolex, but the counterfeiter didn't even bother to at least erase the writings from the dial that this thing has a Japan Quartz movement...

Nice. I think if this came up for auction today, I would estimate it to be worth at least $0.25 and possibly as much as $0.35. I would put its insurance replacement value at approximately $0.50 to $0.60.

Around 1970 Rolex was getting hit with high tariffs in Japan. I believe they had a theory that if they established a presence in Japan, they could mitigate the tariffs. I really don't have knowledge of what happened, but I'm sure some really knowledgeable Rolex historian could enlighten us.

does the engravings between the lugs have chinese language engravings? (or turkish script?) might be a Chinatown or Istanbul special edition

Wow... Usually these finicky authenticity questions are way beyond me, but at last there's one even I can figure out!
