Really Interesting to see, the 925 was a bold move, clever though especially with the trend for Bronze Patina just now. I’m still waiting for mine quoted a year☹️

Beautiful watch. I just purchased it a week ago and loving it.
Has anyone tried cleaning the watch by submerging in a bowl on top of tin foil with hot water and baking soda (sometimes people also throw salt in the mix)?

That process seems to be what's recommended because requires no brushing.

Mine shows zero patina. I’ve kept it on the original strap. I suspect it comes down to body chemistry. I’ve seen vintage watches with the gold ‘eaten’ away from wearing it. Perhaps one’s soap or cologne also may have some affect.

Mine has never been worn, just left out in the open at home, developed quite an even layer of oxidation all around the case

This looks like making medical experiments on patients. Here watch enthusiasts are examined by Tudor marketing dept. how much tarnisch they can withstand on the case.

Great thread, very interested in other 925 owners’ experiences. I’ve been on a wait list with my AD for a 925, and good to see the changes- nothing off-putting.

Note that Silver tarnish/patina is not caused by Oxygen, but by sulphides. Some interesting advice here:
https://84thand3rd.com/2013/05/31/8-...-tarnish-free/

I wear mine almost daily, but for overnight storage I am keeping it in an air tight glass box with a water absorption pack and a piece of chalk lets see how it goes

How has it affected the tarnishing?

You're doing good work, OP. I went to see this in the boutique today and I absolutely LOVE the dial and warmth of the silver. But...man, that tarnish would kill me! Thanks for the info.

If you like how it look, my advise would be do not hesitate buying it. It look great even with all those tarnishes in real life.

It can easily be cleaned and look as good as new within 15-30 mins work. I just cleaned it 2 week ago by 3M Scotchgard Tarni-Shield for silver and apply Renaissance wax.

Any updates from OP on this? This turned out to be one of the best watches I have ever bought. It’s stunning, comfortable, rugged, and the varying degrees of tarnishing overtime shows incredible depth and personality.

Tudor BlackBay 58 925 : My Patina Diaries

Here is the update on my almost 2 years old BB925.
It’s been cleaned with 3M Tarni-Shield and apply renaissance wax around 1 year ago.

Nearly bought this. I bought the bronze instead. It’s also tarnishing really well. Especially the crown.

Thanks for starting this thread. It is really a stunning watch in the case, quite interesting with the patina that develops over time. Not something I would personally want as a first or only high-end time piece but it is certainly unique and subtle. I was just having this discussion at a local AD today while admiring the 925 in the case.
