Do 5-Digit Service Crystals have AR Coating?

I've heard a rumor that when the RSC replaces crystals on 5-digit models those replacement crystals have an AR coating applied on the underside. Does anyone have first hand experience with this?

I had a friend recently get his 116610 serviced and inquired about AR coating and RSC wouldn't do it.

Appreciate the info. It sounds like your friend asked if AR could be added to his existing crystal. I am specifically talking about the scenario where a new factory crystal is installed by RSC.

I think the estimate on repairs from RSC called for a new crystal and he specifically asked for AR and they declined since the watch wasn't born with it. I could be wrong about that though. Someone can correct me but I think these days any parts replaced at service have to be consistent with how the watch was originally manufactured.

My recently serviced 16570 did get an AR crystal at service.

Rolex replaces with the latest parts that fit as service parts and only store older parts if there is no other option.

Most older models will get the latest AR crystals if the older service parts are depleted since they are mostly the same size and fit.

I dropped off my 126710BLNr from 2020 yesterday at RSC Beverly Hills. My quote today to get the AR crystal replaced to match my Sub41 no date was $235 plus tax all in. Part and labor. I’m also updating a DJ41 to a new blue dial, which requires new hands and added the AR glass to that as well for $135 for the glass. They required me to get a full service for the 5 yo watch.

Same with mine, it also had the LEC which the original did not have

Since it was never offered on it originally they said no. But lower in this thread they’re putting AR glass on 5 digit GMTs now! So maybe the older 40 sub can get it soon.

I think I have my answer about 5-digit GMTs, but I’m still unclear about the 5-digit Sub and Sub Date. Would appreciate more info from the group on those models if possible.

Please can you post a photo as I'm sending in my polar 16570 for service soon and an AR crystal would sort my only minor gripe with the watch.

Wow - I would LOVE to have AR coating for at least the cyclops of my 16710. That would be great. No service planned anytime soon unfortunately

+1 for whether or not a 14060 would get ar at service. My biggest gripe with this watch.

The 14060m is called the last of the tool watches but it does have some bling to it, just less than current subs. I do find that even in full reflection mode the underlying hands are quite visible. I wonder what an AR crystal would do to the resale value but you could always keep the old one

Before I got an AR crystal on my 16570 the cyclops looked like it had a cataract or something

That's putting it perfectly - the bigger problem is the cyclops being much much harder to read depending upon the light

Right, and I don’t think you can get the cyclops replaced without the entire crystal
