Likely a bunch of fakes. I don’t remember the details but you can find it on YouTube.

He did a piece with Hodinkee and there's issues with his Paul Newman. Bezel and chrono pushers apparently aren't original to the watch.

He was in Talking Watches on Hodinkee, and if I remember correctly, he mentioned that the pushers on his Paul Newman were not original. I'm not sure there is more to it than that.

Adam didn’t mention it, he was called out by Perezcope on Instagram. Perez is apparently a vintage expert that appears to have some respect and notoriety for regularly calling out auction houses for selling watches with fraken parts and not disclosing.

Interesting. Yeah it certainly seems like Adam was not aware of the issues which means he probably got ripped off.

He first mentioned a stainless steel Day Date, and Ben Clymer sheepishly didn't correct him by saying that Day Dates only come in precious metals.

He then went on to talk about fluted bezels but described them as, "Jagged bezels," and again, Ben didn't correct him.

He finally mentioned that one of his Day Dates has grooves on the upper surfaces of its hours indices, whereas most Day Dates are polished smooth.

Ben, having had enough, shouted at him, "It's got grooves like jagged? It's got grooves like jagged? It's got grooo-oooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooooves like jagged?"

Vintage is a minefield even for astute buyers….so if you know nothing of what you’re doing, you’re pretty much guaranteed to get screwed.
