5196g pricing
I’m thinking of buying a 5196g in new condition with box & papers (2021) and was wondering what a reasonable price for it is? I don’t mind paying a bit more considering that’s it’s an unworn watch, but equally I’d like to avoid getting ripped off. Appreciate your input.

20k usd/eur depending on location sounds reasonable.

18 to 20K sounds about right. Unworn commands a small premium.

A classic timepiece, you can’t go wrong with the 5196 and the G is perfect and such a tasteful piece. You can wear it with t shirt jeans, still looks amazing.
The g is understated in white gold. As they are discontinued classic, my advice would be to pay a little more and get a nice unpolished one (obvious by thicker bezel with sharp unpolished edges and thick lugs) as they never look the same without the nice crisp sharp edges that reflect the light. For me 20-23 USD or so is such a great price for a perfect dress piece in the spirit of the 96, great value. I actually much prefer it to the 6119g (32 USD before the next increase!) or the 5226 (not a fan and 40 USD…) and at the moment there’s nothing else really in production for me as nice as a 5196 or the old sector dial 5296. Perhaps the 5396 however then you’re talking 57 USD plus these days.. crazy. Used is the way to go for sure. Anyway I love that piece. Find a nice unpolished piece and enjoy! |
