Unfortunately, there was some post deal concerns and opted to reverse the deal. With a little looking, ended up with this. Cleanest example I could find that wasn’t over polished or beat up.

Happy I was able to add a day function. Sunburst seems a little less pronounced on this dial. Worth it for the little bit of added functionality.

Thanks, I appreciate it! Most reasonably priced example I could find in good shape.

Noticed within the first couple hours, that the hands (hrs/mins) randomly stop while the seconds continue to run. My research tells me it’s a loose cannon. Opinion, I believe. Folks say it’s a relatively easy fix. But, easy things rarely are.

I have a local Japanese watchmaker, I’ll probably take it to him. I could return it, but I feel the cost to get it back to Japan, and a headache of sourcing another one, I might as well just hold onto it. What are your thoughts?

That's unlucky. If your watchmaker does fettle it, ask him to check the day mechanism as the day-date 5646 uses a plastic piece that the 5645 date-only doesn't. It's prone to breaking - one reason why the 46s tend to be cheaper than the 45s. Metal replacements are available though...

FYI there are three 56 movements - 5645 date, 5646 day-date, and 5621 time only. The last are by far the rarest, apparently only constituting 10% of production.

Fixing that 5625 should be simple enough. As Mr. Mongrelnomoad mentioned, have them also replace the plastic date changer with a metal one. Mine is broken and I’ve been too lazy to fix it. I guess it just doesn’t bother me enough.

I was able to find a watchmaker a local business uses and is willing to turn it around within the week at a reasonable price and regulate it.

Turns out I'm 0 for 2 on King Seiko. The repair uncertainty and nearly 2 month timetable was more than I was willing to take on. The seller sent me a shipping label and the watch is on its way back home.

I pivoted and went a different direction. Hopefully, there will be an incoming in the next day or two, thanks to a member in this thread
