Pam 317 & 335 bezel

Hello all.

For those that own either of these references, I’m curious to know if the bezel on the watch is made of ceramic or it’s some sort of titanium coated in black?

I’ve noticed that my entire case and crown guard looks pristine as ceramic is scratch resistant, however the bezel has a few scratches that won’t come off.

If anyone can shed some light on this that would be great. Thanks.

Thanks for replying. I also have the 335 and for some reason my bezel has scratches so I’m wondering whether it’s actually titanium like the buckle and case back.

As you can see from 4:30 position.

It's ceramic..try the pencil eraser trick. Most probably, it's simply material deposit from something you had brushed against... (Unless it was a diamond or something). Otherwise, it'll likely come off

Ceramic is scratch resistant, not scratch proof.

Excellent advice arnage...ran across this thread and tried on my 335 bezel. It worked!
This had been bugging me for months.

Thank you!

Glad it has worked on some. I believe mine might be caused by something very hard. I’ve tried using the eraser to make sure it’s not a deposit that has been marked over the bezel.

However, it seems like it’s quite serious and therefore won’t come off

At this point, I’m contemplating a bezel change or not.

does it feel as if it's a scratch?... i.e. - running a fingernail over it, is it completely smooth, or you can feel a detent?

note that you may want to try a few different types of pencil erasers. the pink / gummy erasers may not do as good of a job as the harder ones (to get more technical, i.e. a pentel white "high polymer" eraser), with removing the material.

I suppose worse comes to worst, you can send it in for a bezel replacement. I suppose it won't come particularly cheap, but at least it won't bug you into the future.

I'm glad that this helped you! I've had my 335 for a bunch of years now, and it's continued to be one of my favorites.

It feels very smooth, but I can feel it’s a scratch based on the location of it. Also, along the sharp edge it looks metallic, hence why I asked whether it was ceramic or titanium.

Thanks for the eraser tips. I will try to find other types which you have suggested. So far I’ve only tried the white ones and the pink ones.

Yeah. I’ve gotten a quote for the bezel along and it’s about $1000.

I had a 317 and the bezel was ceramic, and my guess is that your 335 bezel is as well.

Those marks on your bezel are lighter in color than black ceramic so are probably are from whatever your bezel contacted.
Hopefully another eraser or something else to clean that off will work.

I just picked up a 335.

Question, what was the production run on these? The one I bought is a W series but I didn’t think they produced these all the way to 2020/2021…
