I’m not sure what precious metals has to do with it … nowadays, Rolex makes pretty blingy Stainless Steel

I think the time one would buy a watch or a chronograph for its function is long gone. The Daytona in any metal works for me just fine.

This reminds me of all the bitter posts you see on YouTube.

Clearly Daytona is living rent free in your head since you chose to publicly pontificate about it.

If you get the call be sure to pass.

I was one of 300 members entered in the 2023 Steel Daytona drawing, which took place on December 17, via A Zoom gathering, hosted by Steve. You can read all about it in the after dark section.

Generally, no chrono watches make sense to me considering the alternative “stopwatch” possibilities. Maybe for someone who times intervals routinely throughout the day. Busiest, least legible, dial in the catalog. Perhaps I’ll never understand what all the fuss is about.

Interestingly my husband sold off a beautiful WG Daytona with a blue dial just yesterday. Very difficult to read with a chrono that was mostly unreadable. Seemed small on him. Rolex advertised it as 40mm. But it’s not.

You’re right, correction I meant 11 series with ceramic bezel launched in 2013. The 4130 movement launched in 2000 but with the original steel bezel.

Your opinion. I never understand why AP release the offshore, made for diving, on leather. Regarding Daytona, I think SS is the way. Want PM? Day Date, VC, PP, Lange Etc
