15710st Rotor Stain [PLEASE HELP!]
Hi friends,
Recently purchased a pre-owned 15710st (2015) which comes has a glass case back. I was just playing around with a phone camera zooming into the case back and spotted a few weird stain (oxidation/tarnish?) marks on the gold plated rotor. There seems to be a tiny white debris next to the letter A which seems to have caused a circular stain around it and the bottom part of the rotor a darker stain throughout. Please see attached photos for reference. Does anyone know what has caused this? Is this natural thing to happen since it's not pure gold? What can be done to fix this? I'm now completely heartbroken for the fact that I might have just bought a rusty watch... Any help would be appreciated... Thanks... |

Had the exact same thing on my 15707CE. Came back from Clearwater looking brand new, and they didn’t have to replace it.

All they noted was “oscillating weight stained but functioning ok”. They gave no indication as to what might’ve caused it…

They just noted “oscillating weight stained but functioning ok”, without specifying any reasons. Seems like buffing it out was part of the regular maintenance.

I see. Thanks for the info. Super helpful. I'll visit a local watchmaker in NYC to see if they can buff it out.

I had a similar stain on my Lange rotor. It's a water spot from the ultrasonic cleaner and maybe a spec of white rouge I think.

I was surprised last night when looking at my 15500st, it had a stain as well. Also it had a dark spot, as if oil had oxidized and stuck onto the inside of the sapphire, cuz there was nothing I could to get it off. The watch had never been serviced yet. Which is really weird. Did moisture get into it?
