I have a few favorites. When I travel I take my Pilots. With eternal ink….

I really can't say that any of my pens is a favorite or maybe whichever pen I happen to be using at that time is my favorite; but there are a few pens that I did use for extended periods as my only pen that kept filled.

The first is my Aurora 888P (second from top) I recently flushed and put away. I used it as the only fountain pen continuously filled for about four years. It is cartridge filled and I used Platinum cartridges or converters natively and a Platinum adapter with Standard International cartridges.

A second is one of my Waterman Gentleman from the early 1980s. I alternated between two versions, one a Sterling Silver and the other Bordeaux (Second from right). The Gentleman is slightly smaller than the Man 100 and felt much better in hand.

The third is a Striated Marine Green Balance (also second from right) that had belonged to my grandfather and that he gave to me in 1956 or 1957. It's a plunger fill and has been rebuilt at least once. I used it all through high school and part of college and pretty much solely during the first few years of my working life.

Mine is a Pelikan Concerto with M nib. Blue resin barrel, vermeil barrel band engraved with the opening bars of Beethoven's "Ode to Joy".

So my favourite pen is this M900 Toledo (Extra Fine nib).

But the pens with the most interesting nibs is this duo. The first in platinum trim has an "Italic Edge" nib created by Montblanc in collaboration with a specialist German stationer called Fritz Schimpf. The second in yellow gold trim has a flexible Calligraphy nib. (The nib is impossible to keep clean as you can see).

It is the M900 that gets the most use however and is my favourite.

Here’s my favorite in my collection. It’s a late model Omas Paragon. A Ludovico Einaudi signature edition with a factory stub nib. I rarely see them in any form for sale. It was extremely difficult to get and the deal almost fell through several times. The seller was a very difficult lady from Germany. Over the years I’ve picked up several factory sealed Omas pens but this one was the only that had been tested by Omas before shipping. There was a slight amount of red ink left in the feed. The plastic was sealed and initialed by the same person who inspected all of my other pens that were new old stock. I’ve never had to work on it or tune the nib. Almost all of my other Omas pens have had similar problems as in the feed was sealed closed internally by some rogue adhesive or the pen body starts spinning wile turning the piston knob. It was excellent right out of the box. Love this pen
