By your logic, if you don’t see value in the extra money for the gold, a steel Rolex also isn’t good value.

A Tudor is good value. Many Tudors are exceptional watches. The 54, 58 and pelagos are incredible value for what they are and capable of.

So I don’t think it’s a question of value for you, just buy it if you love it.

It’s not a value proposition, it’s a get what you like proposition. The CHNR is a great looking watch, but do you like it enough to spend the extra $$?

If you are calculating how much gold is in a watch compared to its price, and also figuring out how many stainless watches you could buy for the premium of TT/PM, then you are not ready for anything beyond stainless.

My advice is stick to SS for now because once you go PM it's hard to go back.

I have two gold watches that I love (full disclosure--one is on oysterflex haha). Sure I could have 6 stainless watches instead for the same price, but I can only wear one at a time and I've long decided I prefer having a few gold watches over many stainless in my collection.

It’s a terrible value proposition, but they look fantastic! Straight up, most watches over about 300 bucks are a lousy value proposition.

Is a Tudor a good value, though? There are plenty of other Swiss brands of high quality for 1-2 grand less than a Tudor.. We pay a premium for Tudor, as well, because of its relationship to Rolex. BTW, I love my BB58.

YG is my fav watch metal to wear.

Also, you are definitely wrong about people with lighter skin not being able to wear YG.

I think a lot of people have insecurities about wearing PM. Once you get past that, it’s an amazing ownership experience.

I have found the PM pieces I own get the most wrist time. While they were more expensive they are holding their value well. Can’t beat them.

I think that is what it comes down to.

Putting availability to one side, am i going to love it 60% more than lets say a Batman, or a GMT Coke, if they bring one out?

Maybe not.
