Main question, how much did you pay?

Service dial, hands and insert by the looks of things. Not the end of the world. My thoughts are with Keith... what did you pay?

Did you buy the service parts watch because you were looking for one like that to wear? To cannibalize? To flip? Just because something IS for sale, doesn't mean you have to buy it?If you like it, great, but I couldn't see paying anything more than very little for that.

Well as long as the movement or case is all good of course it’s a winner…
Big congrats if so!!

I might swap the movements over as the service case is very crisp and they are less then 1000 numbers apart

Sorry
I bought a 1680 today and asked if the dial was a service dial I then corrected the post as I originally said it was an 8 m when in fact it was a 5m I was asked how much I paid I was then asked if I had bought the watch to wear flio or part out I replied I might swap the case with the other 1680 I posted a photo of as it was in better condition |

Now Iam confused
I only asked if the dial and insert were service Then I am asked what I paid and why did I buy it When the only response to my question should have been yes both service |

I understood what you were saying @Nickn.
We are mostly vintage watch enthusiasts in this area of the forum so there’s always interest in someone getting a vintage Rolex. Yes, I could have said the parts you asked about are service/newer parts. But why ask for free answers and expect no one to be curious as to how well you did? Enjoy it…

£1500.... Wow!.... the caseback and endlinks are worth that alone....I hereby anoint you as my new Purchasing Director !
But seriously, there are service and there are Service. Personally I'm much less fussed over an 80/90s T25 service dial with a bit of patina on say a 1675/5513/1680/6536/5508 than a post 2000 'Swiss' service dial, esp the really bluey white ones that appeared after 2004 - they just dont have any vintage vibery to me! Btw I'm more vigilant on checking loose vintage watches with these recent swiss dials, as the dials are cheap used (about £300-500) and are often discarded when someone finds a good old dial. What then happens (I've seen it about a dozen times) is the forgers buy the dial and fit into a fake mid-case and caseback and fit a legit 1570/5 (currently c £1300 used) and triple their profit! As such, I'd check the engravings and caseback stamp microscopically! If both check out, and you're feeling a bit mercenary, or more generously adventurous, canabalise the two at an independent watchmaker and sell the less appealing one to someone, oh say I dont know..., me for £1200 ! Btw I hope you found my advice on gold jubilee bracelet repair company in UK useful a month or so ago, as you didn't follow up on it.....
