Worn serial number by end links

Hello,

Does anyone know if worn serial numbers (by end link of bracelet) can be restored?
Also, is there a way to stop the wear upon the serial number by the end links of the bracelet (so that in time it doesn't get any worse)?
I have a ‘97 GMT with the middle number almost entirely worn out (both at 6 and 12 o’clock).

Thank you.

emm, I wouldn't attempt restoring numbers. A watchmaker can adjust your endlinks or replace with a newer set so they don't get worse.

Like Swaini mentioned any tentative to restore the numbers could be view like some kind of "forgery", since it's only few number in the middle I would just concentrate on preserving

My advice. Just take good macro photos and print them out of the engravings as they are, and put them in the watch box or wherever you keep it - so, if the engravings wear more over the next decade, you'll have proof that the number is legit. wouldn't doctor them as just looks v fishy to prospective buyer.

You can apply some thin Kapton tape over the numbers to protect them from further damage.
