Go for it. Just verify the crown is screwed down, and the seals have been replaced within the last 3-4 years. Seals will most likely be fine beyond that, but not worth risking.

Are you guys sure that is ok to scuba dive with an Explorer II? The watch is water proof to a depth of 100m. However, that is a static pressure test which is not quite the same as taking the watch down to 100 meters.
Usually dive watches are rated at least to 200 meters (and nobody expects you to dive deeper than 40-50 meters).
Here is a link to the Breitling web site that explains their water rating (http://www.breitlingsource.com/artic...sistance.shtml) which is also consistent with what I have found on Wikipedia searching for water resistant mark. Does Rolex uses a different rating? That would be very interesting.

Unlike other brands, Rolex watches are truly rated to their stated depth +20%

I used my GMT when I unexpectedly had a chance to go diving on a business trip and had no problem. If the watch had failed, I would have returned it under warranty.

And yes, I know the GMT bezel turns both ways, but so do the bezels on my 1680, 5512 and 5513 Subs.

No problem diving with it. The very first Submariners sold as a dive watch and had the same depth rating.

Polar Explorer II is my primary dive watch. Gave my Submariner to my wife, sold my SD43 and DSSD JC. Would even wear my BLRO diving.

If you want to play it really safe but want the Explorer 2 vibe, get a Tudor Black Bay Pro - They have a depth rating of 200m.

!00 meters water resistance generally means safe for surface swimming and shallow diving of maybe 15 to 20 feet. WR in watches is measured at static pressures. Movement in or of the water increases the pressures considerably.

I Tec dive on closed circuit the deepest my Sub has been is 127M with absolutely no ill effect.

Ahhh...but those WERE the days.

Rolex ADs actually had watches in the cases that you could buy.

We were trending upward coming out of the financial crisis.
