Rolex outer sleeve question

Has anyone ever received a Rolex with an outer sleeve that had a sticker with the serial #?

A datejust 41 I bought from my AD didn't have that, but another DJ41 I've seen for sale shows a portion of the sticker on the sleeve that has the last 3 digits of the watch's serial #

Thanks in advance.

I've had a few. The number on the sleeve is not the serial number.

The boxes and sleeves are generic. They are supplied to AD's separately from the watches. Only the plastic (now cardboard) "coffins" carry the watch serial number

The dealer selling may have added their own sticker for inventory purposes.

Yeah, maybe because it's definitely the serial #

Same here. I think about six of mine are stickered but there's no watch serial number on the sticker. There can't be, the watches and boxes don't come as full sets.

The most important bit is the watch inside and not any of the digits on the packaging stuff.

Rolex outer sleeve question

Most official Rolex dealers here in Europe sell new Rolex watches watches without white outer-sleeve (with SAP nr) and white (serial nr) tag.
They say it is Rolex policy also for flipping (directly) to grey channel watch traders.

A sick (sales) culture in my believe, people pay a substantial amount of money for a Rolex watch and should have get the whole package.
To each their own!

Besides that on the white tag is the number of the dial color factory delivered. Whiteout this plastic tag only Rolex can check if there was a dial change.

The only serial I am interested in is the serial on the watch that matches the serial on the warranty. As boxes and rest of packaging are made in several parts of the world, so say boxes etc in Europe could be different to those in USA, as Rolex USA is a separate company from the rest of the world.

Great question! Thanks for the info.

I have 3 Rolex and, I believe, all have the outer boxes. They're tucked away. But I only have 1 coffin, for the Explorer. I get excited when picking up I completely forget about the coffins! :)

I have not but I would think such a sticker would have been made and placed on the sleeve by the AD to help them to supply the correct box with each watch.

This is my experience as well. I’ve received a number of sleeves from my AD with new watches, both Rolex and Tudor, each with the same style sticker on them with a number that did not reference the serial number of the watch contained. The fact that the watches were from different manufacturers but the stickers were similar has always lead me to believe that the stickers and numbers were for internal AD inventory control.

Yes. At least one. I’d have to check the others if there are more. Not as common in recent years.

Nothing odd about it. The Dealer put it there so that when the watch is sold the SA can just grab the labeled box and not have to actually think.

That's exactly what I was going to say. When I worked an AD we always had people giving out the "wrong" boxes for watches they sold. It would make it a lot easier and more streamlined to label the boxes when they came up and keep the warranty card in it to prevent any mix-ups.
