Owning vintage and modern Tudor
Who here owns both a Tudor Sub and a Black Bay? I've thought a BB58 blue would be a nice companion to my '89 Sub. Something I can wear on a more daily basis, travel with, dive with, etc. I already do that with my Sub, but a BB58 seems like a nice modern tool watch with similar proportions that would be a nice addition, and I don't own a modern watch.
Anyways, who here owns both? Do you enjoy wearing the BB58? Has it gotten less appealing since you purchased it? Anything about it I should consider before taking the plunge? Thanks |

I have a Tudor Sub (79090), BBN ETA, and Sub (114060). All different watches I enjoy and use them all... If you like the looks and fit, it's a great pick up.

I used to own a 1975 9411 blue snowflake Sub and currently a blue Pelagos. My small vintage Tudor collection eventually transformed into all modern. Vintage watches are a joy to wear on occasion but I wanted to enjoy these daily and Tudor kept releasing great references.

I love the way vintage wears. The 58 steel bracelets do not fit me well. I’m looking forward to the lineup getting the adjustable clasp of the 58 bronze, 54 or new pelagos.

I have owned vintage in the past but prefer modern references. Less thought about wear and care.

I just went on with getting the BB58 in blue. And it's really good. Faux rivets aside.

No vintage Tudor for me although I always hankered after a Tudor Prince Oysterdate Submariner 79090 (Blue Dial & Bezel). Until then I will just have to suffice with these three.

I have a 79090 and a BB58 925. Both I wear on NATO straps and they wear basically the same. I like having the date on the 79090 but the 925 is a much more solid watch in my opinion. The acrylic crystal on the 79090 is a bit of a drawback if you wear it all the time. My 16610 gets the most wrist time, along with a couple of Omega 2254.50’s that I have.

I don’t have a vintage Tudor, but do have an old Seamaster diver and have had my blue BB58 for two years now without getting sick of it. It’s a keeper for me.
If it wasn’t a keeper, I’d worry about depreciation (they’re quite a lot cheaper once used), and how much the cost of service is compared to its used value; you’re sort of locked in to having a Rolex Service Centre do the work on the in-house movement. But yeah, I love mine. It feels bullet-proof, looks fresh and is comfortable. |
