Oxidation kills it?
Just found this in my grandfather’s things. He was always on a ship and in salt water. Does it have any value or worth restoring?

Welcome to the Forum! I would recommend opening the back and see what type of damage a battery powered movement has with this type of exposure / reaction to the outside. |

Maybe your grandfather had one of the super ultra crazy rare stainless DayDates…
Then again, odds are >99.99%, NO Way…

One of these days we’ll get a watch that’s legit and from a person with more than one post

There has been some legit ones, one guy had a long thread going. It was his uncles or something, was buried in a garden or something strange. I believe he sent the dial off to be repainted to classic. I don’t know if we ever saw the results. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

It’s not people doing their due diligence that’s the issue, it’s one-time posters with fake watches left behind by their “fathers”/“grandfathers”/“step-grandfathers”/etc. on a monthly basis around here, and then who vanish just as quickly as they appear.
