Panerai Quaranta 1272 vs Submariner pics

For any of you curious about the new 40mm Panerai 1272 and how it compares to a Sub or something of similar size. I was and haven't been able to find much online. I grabbed this one after much deliberation and I'm very pleased. It wears really comfortably on my thinnish wrist (6.75") and with the shape of the lugs it has an excellent profile.

39 Explorer and a 14060 Sub for reference. Can post more if wanted.

i really dont understand why panerai would want to shrink and lose whatever identity they had.

i think i am true blood paneristi. since getting the pam372 and pam510 i have not been wearing my other watches.

and when i do wear others they now seem too small

HTC- believe me, I’d prefer to have the genetics to pull off a bigger case but the thickness simply gets too out of hand on the 42 and up. Add to that a massive dial and you’ve got a pretty undesirable look going on. I’m pleased that they’ve offered something that’s somewhat water resistant for light leisure use while keeping true to their style. It’s the case I’ve been waiting for in the model that accurately represents the brand. And for a company that I’m certain would love to sell more watches it’s a smart business move.

For me the only Pam is the one I have.. 233.. will never buy a Panerai again..

Personally I think it looks fantastic on you. I completely understand why some people get energised about the loss of original genetics, but the truth is that there are lots of people excited by the look but unable to pull off a 44-47mm - the choice may well have been shrink or vanish.
There are too many people banging on about identity - even 38mm Panerai is absolutely, without a doubt Panerai. As with anything, if it doesn't work for you don't buy it and continue with the oversizes. I'd rather Panerai did a range of sizes than the and lass variations personally.

Just wondering, here almost a year later. Do you use the Pam alot? Which of the three usually finds itself on your wrist?

I had a 44mm Pam 005, did not wear it much, thought it looked too big. Eventually sold it.

Flash forward to January 2023, I bought a 42mm Panerai Submersible. I think Panerai is expanding its audience by offering different sizes.

Reviving this Zombie thread to see if LateDrop is still out there. Curious how much wrist time this watch got over time or if others are wearing the Quaranta. I'm a bit of an oddball - I have a 44mm PAM915 that is one of my worst worn watches, but am thinking that the 40mm in white might be a nice companion to it and would let me release my inner-Paneristi at times when that big watch just won't fly. ( Think khaki and blazer wear...).

I bought a Quaranta about a year ago and it's been my daily since.

I have small wrists, so the 40mm looks just right on me.

I absolutely love mine and can't recommend it enough.
