Looking for first Rolex
Looking to purchase my first Rolex and would appreciate some insight on my options. Have been looking between a new 36mm Oyster Perpetual 126000 or a pre-owned 36mm Datejust 16220 / 16030 / 16234.
Fwiw, I have a connection that I believe could help me get an OP in the next few months. If I wanted to go with a pre-owned DJ, where is my best bet to purchase? Ebay (Authenticity Guarantee) and look for with papers/box or somewhere like bobs or chrono? Appreciate the help |

Go new OP36. I would get the green if you can.

Go to one of our trusted TRF sellers (look under Rolex Boutiques in the for sale section) first. They have tons of excellent references and they all have their own authenticity guarantees. Best of luck. |

I only would purchase from a Rolex AD or an offical Boutique storefront Rolex. Now, if the watch sellers here on TRF would sell below MSRP/discount then maybe I would consider.. but that is unlikely. |

Perhaps it’s just me, but having a Rolex AD experience for your first Rolex is a special moment vs having the watch left on your door step by the delivery person. If you have a connection that could make that happen, then go for it. Best of luck, both options are fantastic references.

36mm op shouldn’t take an absurd amount of time. I would try the AD, after a few months if that doesn’t work go to a trusted seller.

Welcome to the forum!!
I’d try to get one from an AD first, then as suggested go the trusted seller route

Looking for first Rolex
Get a 36 mm OP from an AD. It’s a great first new Rolex! That’s what I did. 8 months later I was able to get a two tone 36 mm Wimbledon Datejust, from the same AD. Good luck.
