A work week with a Daytona

Aesthetically the Daytona is beautiful, just a timeless piece and a great investment.

Although not many will share my opinion but I just find it not really legible sometimes but I picked up the Daytona, well because it's a Daytona.

Will I enjoy my time with the watch however long that may be? Yes absolutely I will. Even just looking at it sit in a box is fun.

Will I recoup or possible make more money should I decide to sell? You bet your a** I will but thats not why we should buy watches. Definitely a plus though.

If I had the chance to go back in time and change my decisions would I? No the Daytona is a great watch although it may not be for me. The chronograph function will never see the light of day, and I can barely tell the time on it sometimes or maybe it's just my aging eyes.

Bare with me as it's my first review and I'm not sure how to go about it, didn't want to dive in and talk about movement or how it compares to other pieces. Just wanted a short honest opinion on my experience with this piece.

Is the visibility/readability struggle with the sub dials or the main hands and indices?

Main hand indices during the day, I try to work in a naturally lit room as much as possible. More often than not I had a hard time reading the time.

I hear you.

The ceramic white dial version is a lot better.

The YG/RG versions are the best from a readability standpoint for me personally.

Haha. Versatile watch. I’m 5’7” 150 and it looks alright on me as well.

Just received my 116500LN today - 55 YO white face - PANDA style and I agree with you - my Submariner is much easier to read but i have longed for this watch for well over a decade....best of luck to you on your journey and hope you get used to it.

The Daytona is one of my favorite Rolex models and am waiting to get my hands on a Panda. Thanks for the writeup.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Since you won't use the chrono, you can use the chrono seconds hand as a time zone reminder when traveling. Put it ahead or behind from the 12:00 position to remind you how many hours ahead of or behind you are from a different location.

nice

Beautiful watch. I'd keep it as part of your collection. I have a Daytona that I wear often, my Submariner is my daily.

Put those bracelets on the other wrist or away all together and you’re set. The watch is stand alone IMO

Sometimes practicality and functionality aren't the most important traits in a watch. As long as it makes you feel good and happy, that is all that matters!
